Vision
Our Future
Our goal is to enhance and expand each of our educational and charitable activities in the future:
Flag Football Education
For the past few years we have had more interest than capacity in our league, both for regular participation and for our educational flag football clinics. We believe that with additional funding we will be able to accommodate as many as 1000 participants in our Fall league and host our educational “Clinic Day” programs for hundreds more members of the public. Specifically, when we are able to expand our numbers and raise funds to cover the costs, we plan to partner with community groups to introduce youth to the sport of flag football. We will teach them basic and advanced skills they will need to play the game and, at the same time, educate them about homophobia and bullying in athletics and help them to break down stereotypes between the LGBTQ and straight communities.
Volunteer Activities
We look forward to expanding our partnership with the Boston Living Center and other organizations that share our charitable purposes. Our goal will be to identify opportunities for each team to volunteer at the Boston Living Center and for the league to expand the toy drive and other special projects for the Center.
National Reach
The league is very proud of its successes in working to eliminate prejudice while educating the public about flag football. As we press on with our charitable purposes in the Boston area, we believe that we can help groups accomplish similar goals in other cities. We intend to “adopt” a city that is working to develop a league like ours and help them to set up similar educational programs there. We will lend them our organizational support to set up their league, create partnerships with local organizations that share our purposes and assisting them with programs like our Skills Clinic.
Beach Bowl
The league intends to work with organizations in Ogunquit, Maine to expand our charitable outreach. We will work with the local LGBTQ community to identify additional speaking and educational opportunities while we are there. Ideally our expanded activities will include a football skills clinic for youth and adults, additional football games including more local participants and service projects that promote diversity and eliminate prejudice.
